Aikman was born on November 21, 1966, in West Covina, California. He began his career playing college football at the University of Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1988. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the first overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft.
Aikman became the Cowboys' starting quarterback during the 1991 season and helped lead the team to three Super Bowl victories: Super Bowl XXVII, Super Bowl XXVIII, and Super Bowl XXX. He was also named Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl XXVII. Aikman retired from football after the 2000 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
